Job Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a passion for animal care and a strong understanding of veterinary practices. This role involves providing support to veterinarians and veterinary technicians in a clinical setting, ensuring the well-being of animals, and assisting with various tasks related to animal health.
Duties
- Assist veterinarians during examinations and procedures, ensuring the comfort and safety of animals.
- Perform animal handling and restraint techniques to facilitate examinations and treatments.
- Administer medications as directed by the veterinarian, including injections and oral medications.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the clinic, including kennels and treatment areas.
- Monitor animal behavior and health status, reporting any changes to the veterinary team.
- Utilize veterinary terminology effectively in communication with staff and clients.
- Assist with laboratory tasks such as sample collection, processing, and analysis.
- Support front desk operations by greeting clients, scheduling appointments, and managing records.
- Maintain knowledge of animal physiology, anatomy, and critical care procedures.
Qualifications
- Previous experience as a Veterinary Assistant is preferred.
- Familiarity with veterinary terminology and procedures is essential.
- Experience in kennel management or animal husbandry is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of medication administration techniques is required.
- Strong communication skills for interacting with clients and team members.
- Laboratory experience is an asset for performing diagnostic tests.
