What are the responsibilities and job description for the Doggie Daycare Associate position at Pet Companions Bed & Biscuit?
We're looking for people who love dogs, show up when they say they will, and are ready to work hard.
Pet Companions Bed & Biscuit is a cage-free dog daycare, boarding, and enrichment facility in Reading. Our standard is high and our team is tight.
This job keeps you on your feet most of the day, in every kind of weather. You'll spend time with playgroups, clean up after them (a lot), and keep an eye on a room full of dogs so everyone stays safe and has a good day. It's physical and it's messy. It's also a lot of fun.
You don't need years of experience. Every new team member trains with Dog Handler Academy, completes our thorough SOP Manual and shadow team members. We can teach you how to read canine body language. We can't teach you to be dependable or to care about the dogs.
The work
- Supervise dogs in small groups and in the full pack
- Help new dogs during their Discovery days induction program
- Keep yards clean and water bowls filled
- Keep the house clean and sanitized, and finish every checklist before you go home
- Follow each dog's handling plan, feeding schedule, and medications
- Help execute enrichment and take photos and videos for our families
- Log notes in Notion and stay in touch with your team on Slack
About you
- Reliable. Your teammates and the dogs count on you to be here on time, every shift.
- Comfortable with dogs of all sizes and energy levels (experience helps, willingness to learn is a must)
- Able to stand, walk, bend, and lift throughout a full shift, indoors and out
- Available for some weekends and holidays, with reliable transportation to Reading
- Someone who sees what needs doing and does it. We'd rather you ask a question than stand around waiting to be told.
- Detail-minded. Our checklists and protocols exist because the dogs depend on them.
- Happy to take direction and hear feedback
Pay and perks
- $15.50 to $18.00 per hour, set at hire based on your experience with dogs
- Paid, structured training with a mentor
- Raises tied to certifications like Enrich U, CPR and First Aid for Pets, and PACCC
- A real path: Associate-in-Training, Associate, Shift Lead, Supervisor
