Responsibilities
- Take dogs on enjoyable walks, ensuring they get adequate exercise and mental stimulation.
- Provide pet sitting services that include feeding, administering medication if needed, and maintaining daily routines.
- Handle animals safely using proper restraint techniques and animal handling skills.
- Monitor pets’ behavior and health, reporting any concerns or veterinary issues to owners or veterinary professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment for pets by cleaning up after them and ensuring their living areas are well-maintained.
- Assist with pet grooming tasks such as brushing or bathing when required.
- Communicate effectively with pet owners about their pets’ activities, behaviors, and any special needs or instructions.
Skills
- Experience in dog training and handling to manage various temperaments confidently.
- Veterinary experience or background as a veterinary technician or assistant is highly desirable for understanding animal health needs.
- Strong animal handling skills with the ability to restrain animals safely during walks or grooming.
- Knowledge of pet care practices including feeding, medication administration, and basic first aid.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting when necessary to assist with pet transport or equipment setup.
- Excellent customer service skills to build trusting relationships with pet owners.
