Job Summary
Provides direct and indirect psychiatric care to individual or groups of patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). Responsible for patient data collection, implementing age-appropriate interventions, and supporting therapeutic activities using effective communication skills. Assists with patient admissions, discharges, and safety monitoring, documenting patient conditions and responses to care. Administers medications following physician orders and communicates with healthcare team members about patient status. Ensures a safe environment by observing, reporting, and intervening as needed.
Qualifications & Skills

Qualifications & Skills
- High School diploma or GED required; Associate's/Technical Degree preferred
- Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) or Licensed Psychiatric Technician (LPT) required
- Relevant certifications including Techniques for Effective Aggression Management or Crisis Prevention Intervention, and BLS
- Experience in mental health settings preferred
- Use de-escalation and restraint techniques when necessary
- Conduct patient assessments, monitor mental and physical health, and document findings
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and healthcare team
- Assist with patient education and safety procedures
- Perform routine rounding and environmental safety checks
