Job Overview
The Clinical Supervisor is responsible for providing clinical leadership, oversight, and supervision to counseling and direct service staff to ensure the delivery of high-quality, ethical, and effective behavioral health services. This role supports program operations by monitoring clinical practice, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and promoting evidence-based care that meets the needs of individuals served.
The Clinical Supervisor provides guidance on assessment, treatment planning, documentation, crisis intervention, and care coordination while fostering professional development and accountability among staff. This position also serves as a liaison between clinical teams, administrative leadership, and external partners to ensure integrated, client-centered services.
Through coaching, training, and quality assurance activities, the Clinical Supervisor helps maintain a safe, therapeutic environment that promotes recovery, stability, and improved functioning for clients with mental health, substance use, and co-occurring conditions.
Duties
- Provide staff training and development during Group and Individual supervision.
- Provide individual clinical supervision to QMHP and CSAC staff once per month
- Provide Group Supervision once per month with QMHPs (can be virtual). One group supervision must be conducted in-person on a quarterly basis.
- Provide one in-person Quarterly Group Meeting with QMHPs
- Weekly check-ins with CSAC. Discussions will be documented through Clinical Supervision tab in Notable and addressed through monthly supervision meetings with CSAC/group facilitators
- Review and approve Individual Service Plans (ISP), Quarterly Reports, Serious Incident Reports (SIR), Discharge Summaries, Discharge Guidelines and Crisis Relapse Prevention Plans
- On Client Referral and Screening Forms. Only the “Reason for Requesting Services” and “Screening Recommendations & Referral” section.The rest of the form must be completed by the PSCS Office Staff.
- Complete Clinical Assessments packet when needed within twenty-four hours of assignment. Packet includes Comprehensive Assessment, Pre-ISP and Initial SRA.
- Provide clinical supervision to a staff dealing with a crisis situation.
- Clinical chart reviews for all active client chart in ASAM and MHSS Programs. Submit reports via SharePoint bi-weekly.
- Clinical Supervisor will meet with CEO and or COO during the first week of each month for chart audits and reviews update/status. Reviews entail the following:
- Clinical supervisor will complete chart audits monthly for ASAM, CS, and MHSS Programs as well as complete Chart Review tab in Notable monthly.
- Charts should be initially review within first 48 hours of the Client entering the program to ensure have all Intake documents, Safety Plan and Crisis Relapse Prevention Plans are completed and signed by Client and staff. Missing items must be shared with appropriate staff and have issue resolved within 24-48 hours.
- Track Continued SRA to ensure they are submitted timely (reminding QMHPs to complete within two week of deadline). Submit authorization requests to MCO. Clinicians will receive monthly SRA Tracker by administrative staff.
- Individual check-ins with higher risk clients, as needed.
- Clinical Supervisor will assist with Service Authorizations appeals, and Peer-to-Peer reviews with MCOs as needed.
- Attend weekly treatment team meetings.
- Ensures compliance with all applicable state rules, regulations, and statutes.
- Assist with improving/developing the clinical needs and requirements of the agency Specifically relevant to clinical supervision tasks
- Other clinical duties may be assigned and will be discussed prior to assignment
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Master’s or Doctorate degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related behavioral health field.
- Active and unrestricted clinical license in the state (e.g., LPC, LCSW, LMFT, Psychologist, or LMHP-Type).
- Minimum of 5 years of clinical experience, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity.
- Experience in community-based mental health services, including knowledge of Medicaid and DBHDS requirements.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) and clinical documentation standards.
- Deep understanding of trauma-informed care, recovery-oriented services, and person-centered planning.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse populations and interdisciplinary teams.
Work Conditions:
- This is a part-time position requiring on-site presence for supervision and agency operations on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.
- Occasional off-hour duties in the event of a crisis.
- Must have reliable transportation and valid driver’s license.
Compensation:
- The Clinical Supervisor position is a part-time role compensated at an hourly rate of $45.00 per hour for all duties performed during the regular schedule of Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., totaling up to 25 hours per week.
- Any Comprehensive Assessment, Client Referral and Screening Form, Pre-ISP, and Initial SRA will be compensated at $175 per assessment packet, once documentation is completed and submitted.
- Compensation is provided solely for hours worked within this schedule unless otherwise authorized.
- Any additional work required due to crisis situations occurring outside of regular office hours will be compensated at the same hourly rate, provided such work is necessary, properly documented, and conducted in accordance with agency procedures.
- All clinical supervision activities—including individual supervision, group supervision, documentation, and related supervisory responsibilities—must be completed during regular office hours with the exception of crisis management.
Pay: $45.00 per hour
