Direct Support Professional - Full time

A young adult (male) in Ellicott City seeks a Direct Support Professional to support him in his daily life and leisure activities. This young adult is non-verbal, highly relational and has broad family support.

The position is Monday to Friday, 9am - 5pm (40 hours per week). Please do not apply if these specific hours do not work for you. Pay range is $28-30/ hour, based on experience.

Responsibilities include:

• Providing him support for daily volunteer community service
• Taking him on community outings and keeping him safe
• Assisting him with communication, waiting and other critical life skills
• Joining him on activities such as swimming, walks, library, etc.
• Helping him develop and maintain consistent routines
• Supporting him in activities of daily living as needed

Ideal candidates will have 5 years experience serving individuals with disabilities, and with communication devices for use with non-verbal individuals. Strongly prefer someone experienced working within the DDA Self-Direction model. This position requires someone who is patient, dependable, flexible and motivated to help this young adult continue to develop his skills. Candidates must be physically active (walking, swimming, etc.).

A reliable vehicle is required for transportation, and all mileage is reimbursed. The position includes paid holidays, 2 weeks paid time off per year, and $150 monthly toward health insurance premiums. CPR and First Aid certifications are required but may be obtained and reimbursed after hire. Detailed feedback and ongoing training will be provided.

Pay: $28.00 - $30.00 per hour
