We are a private care team, seeking a compassionate and dedicated Personal Care Attendant to provide essential support and care to an individual using a power wheelchair. The successful applicant will demonstrate excellent attention to detail, observation skills, adherence to safety protocols, and a proactive approach to communication & caregiving.
Responsibilities
- Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting to promote independence and dignity.
- Operate patient transfer equipment (Hoyer lift) safely and effectively, ensuring proper manual handling techniques are used at all times.
- Maintain cleanliness of living space through routine cleaning tasks, promoting a safe and hygienic environment.
- Provide transportation/driving support for medical appointments or community outings, ensuring safety during travel.
- Follow care plans meticulously and document patient progress accurately in accordance with healthcare standards.
- Engage in observation and communication to foster trust and ensure individual’s rights are respected at all times.
- Prior experience working in group homes, assisted living facilities, nursing homes, or home health settings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability to perform patient monitoring and assist with complex care plans involving dementia or memory care.
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities or neurodevelopmental disorders enhances suitability for this role.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality standards is essential for maintaining privacy and compliance.
- Proven skills in manual handling techniques such as heavy lifting and transfer methods are required for safe support.
