Overview: 2 hours once weekly, private tutoring position
We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable Private Math Tutor to support students in 7th-9th grade educational levels in enhancing their mathematical understanding and skills. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mathematics, including topics such as algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, and statistics, along with experience in teaching or tutoring 11-14 year old age groups. This role offers an opportunity to make a meaningful impact by fostering confidence and academic success in learners of all backgrounds. The position is paid and involves working in-home or library tutoring settings, utilizing innovative learning technologies to facilitate effective instruction.
Responsibilities
- Deliver personalized tutoring sessions to students of different ages and skill levels, focusing on core math concepts and problem-solving techniques.
- Manage tailored lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and individual learning objectives.
- Utilize various learning technologies and digital tools to enhance engagement and comprehension during instruction.
- Assess student progress regularly, providing constructive feedback and adjusting teaching strategies accordingly.
- Support students in mastering advanced topics when applicable.
- Manage test readiness, homework completion & support learning in virtual environments effectively, maintaining a positive atmosphere conducive to learning.
- Collaborate with educators and parents to identify student needs and develop strategies for academic improvement.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in tutoring or teaching mathematics at multiple levels, including higher education or adult education settings.
- Strong knowledge of mathematical disciplines such as algebra, geometry, calculus, discrete math, statistics, and trigonometry.
- Familiarity with curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to diverse learner needs.
- Proficiency with learning technology platforms and computer skills necessary for virtual instruction.
- Ability to work effectively with children, while demonstrating patience and adaptability.
- Background knowledge in related math, science and/or engineering fields is advantageous.
- Excellent communication skills combined with teaching experience to foster an engaging learning environment.
