We are seeking a compassionate, motivated, and innovative Behavior Specialist to join our team. This unique position combines behavioral support services with employment development, helping individuals build the skills needed to thrive at home, in the community, and in the workplace.

Position Summary

The Behavior Specialist provides behavioral assessment, intervention, and consultation services to individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities while also supporting individuals in identifying, obtaining, and maintaining meaningful community employment. This role works collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams, families, employers, and community partners to promote independence, inclusion, and person-centered outcomes.

Essential Responsibilities

Behavior Support

  • Complete functional behavior assessments and develop individualized behavior support plans.
  • Monitor the implementation and effectiveness of behavior support strategies.
  • Train and coach Direct Support Professionals, supervisors, and family members on behavior support techniques.
  • Analyze behavioral data and make recommendations for plan modifications.
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and Individual Support Plan (ISP) development.
  • Ensure services comply with state regulations and organizational policies.

Employment Services

  • Conduct vocational assessments to identify each individual's strengths, interests, and employment goals.
  • Develop individualized employment plans using person-centered practices.
  • Build relationships with local businesses and community employers.
  • Assist individuals with job development, job placement, interview preparation, and workplace accommodations.
  • Provide ongoing employment support and job coaching as needed.
  • Advocate for competitive integrated employment opportunities.

Qualifications

Required

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Applied Behavior Analysis, Special Education, Rehabilitation Counseling, Social Work, or a related human services field.
  • Experience working with individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Valid driver's license with reliable transportation.
  • Ability to travel within the service area.

Preferred

  • ACRE (Association of Community Rehabilitation Educators) Certification
  • Experience with supported employment or vocational rehabilitation services.
  • Knowledge of positive behavior supports, trauma-informed care, and person-centered planning.
  • Familiarity with Pennsylvania IDD regulations and waiver services.
