Appraiser/Valuations Specialist (Part Time)
Perrywinkle's Fine Jewelry is currently looking for an Appraiser/Valuations Specialist to join the Perrywinkle's team in Burlington, who will work with dynamic and passionate cross-functional teams. The Appraiser/Valuations Specialist is a proficient Graduate Gemologist who will be responsible for grading and researching previously owned customer merchandise using gemological expertise and equipment without supervision. This individual will work cross-functionally within Perrywinkle's team members at our store in Burlington, VT.
The Appraiser will work also via telephone, email & Excel files for research purposes and to determine the current retail replacement value of merchandise. This representative will proactively and reactively exercise good judgment, be extremely organized, methodical, resourceful.
What You'll Do:
- Thoroughly examine, identify, price and grade customer owned merchandise and/or loose gemstones for Valuation Services and Repair Services using gemological and technical evaluation while handling all merchandise with care. Exercise awareness of all service requests associated with the order to manage expected completion dates throughout all stages. Ensure that orders are moved to the appropriate status/location, and that they are meeting the established turn around time.
- The Appraiser will work also via telephone, email & Excel files for research purposes and to determine the current retail replacement value of merchandise or fair market value for estates.
- Support management by actively participating in meetings and projects as deemed by business needs. Proactively communicate production issues or concerns to management.
- Research all systems and available resources to determine the most accurate methodology to establish a retail replacement value.
- Create documents with detailed descriptions for merchandise based on examination by applying knowledge of jewelry and gemological terminology. Organize and maintain research and educational material relating to Bixler’s Inc. products, jewelry, and appraisal subjects. Utilize these materials accordingly when completing valuation reports.
- Determine the best way to accurately price, state/disclose all factors encompassing the scenario of the request, and work with other divisions within Bixler’s Inc. to proactively solve potential customer and pricing related conflicts.
- Enclose corresponding documentation when necessary. Document order/customer specific information on the memo screen.
Required Qualifications:
- Graduate Gemologist certification from the Gemological Institute of America or other appraiser certifications.
- Experience with QL2 by Quantum Leap.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Strong initiative and the ability to work without constant direction.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks while maintaining the highest degree of quality.
- Ability to identify and provide resolution for areas in need of improvement.
