Essential Job Functions
- Participate and support the school's MTSS process and structures, focusing on meeting the needs of the whole child.
- Assesses student and family needs (e.g. financial, medical, parenting skills, etc.) for the purpose of developing and implementing individualized plans of services to support educational objectives.
- Coordinates activities with a variety of outside services agencies, school sites, (e.g. mental health, probation, medical, etc.) to provide referrals for families and/or students.
- Review and monitor student attendance by following state and school board policy that may include referrals, pre-court conferences, and court referrals.
- Identify and support homeless youth and foster care students by ensuring that the township is meeting the required McKinney Vento Education Act and state foster care guidelines.
- Provide ongoing behavioral counseling with students individually and in small group, and maintain documentation of counseling records.
- Will provide information regarding guardianship, complete custodial agreements as needed and work with the Department of Child Services on maintaining accurate records of placements.
- Work as part of the school team as part of the Behavioral Intervention Team, implementing Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports, assisting with functional behavioral assessments and crisis intervention.
- Identifies community resources and connect families to meet their needs.
- Report child neglect and abuse as necessary and complete all protocol requirements.
- Conduct home visits as necessary for proof of residency, homelessness and other specific family needs.
- Participates in meetings, workshops and seminars.
- Responds to inquiries to provide information on district support services and/or educational programs.
- Responds to request for intervention in situations that could negatively impact the student's education plan and to address the needs of the student.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Valid Indiana State Social Worker License.
- Valid Indiana State School Social Worker License.
- Master's Degree in Social Work.
- Minimum of two (2) years of experience.
