Job Summary

The Director serves as the senior leader of the Perry County Health Department’s Nursing Division, providing strategic direction, operational oversight, and clinical leadership for public health nursing programs and services. Reporting to the Health Commissioner, the Director supervises nursing staff, manages division budgets and resources, oversees grant-funded programs, ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, and promotes continuous quality improvement.

Key responsibilities include managing immunization services, communicable disease surveillance and response, vaccine programs, clinical operations, public health initiatives, community outreach, emergency preparedness activities, and specialized programs such as Children with Medical Handicaps (CMH) and Project DAWN. The DON works collaboratively with healthcare providers, schools, community organizations, emergency response agencies, and government partners to address community health needs and improve public health outcomes.

As a member of the agency’s leadership team, the Director of Nursing contributes to strategic planning, accreditation efforts, workforce development, policy implementation, and performance management while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and excellence in public health practice.

Minimum Qualifications:

Licensed Registered Nurse (RN) in Ohio Minimum of five years of nursing experience Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of insurance Experience in program management, leadership, public speaking, community engagement, and partnership development

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Nursing Experience with public health program development and policy implementation Incident Command System (ICS) training Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Strong written and verbal communication skills

This position requires leadership in public health nursing, disease prevention, community health improvement, emergency preparedness, and organizational performance to support the Perry County Health Department’s mission of improving and protecting community health.

Pay: $28.97 - $43.46 per hour
