Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and collect blood samples from patients while ensuring their comfort and safety.
- Utilize aseptic techniques to maintain cleanliness and prevent contamination during procedures.
- Provide exceptional patient service by explaining procedures to patients and addressing any concerns they may have.
- Record vital signs and relevant patient information accurately in medical records.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure proper handling and transportation of specimens for testing.
- Maintain equipment and supplies, ensuring that all necessary materials are available for procedures.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and regulations within the hospital environment.
- Demonstrate knowledge of human physiology to effectively communicate with patients regarding their health needs.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a phlebotomy training program is preferred.
- Proven experience in a hospital or clinical setting is advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of aseptic techniques, blood sampling methods, and laboratory practices.
- Excellent patient service skills with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations.
- Ability to perform vital sign assessments and understand basic physiological concepts.
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage patient records accurately.
- Certification as a Phlebotomist is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to obtain certification is essential.
