Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Advisory Associate with experience in government auditing or accounting to support our growing advisory practice. This role is ideal for a professional with at least two years of hands-on experience working with Ohio governmental accounting standards who is ready to deepen technical expertise while contributing to meaningful client engagements.
The Advisory Associate will prepare and review financial statements, support client engagements, and collaborate closely with managers and in-charges to deliver high-quality service to public sector clients.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare, compile, and assist with review engagements for governmental entities.

Apply governmental accounting standards and GAAP to financial reporting.

Import and reconcile client trial balances within engagement software.

Analyze client ledgers and financial data to identify discrepancies or reporting issues.

Prepare and post journal entries with accuracy and efficiency.

Link trial balances to financial statements and update note disclosures.

Participate in client meetings and communications alongside engagement leadership.

Maintain organized workpapers and meet established deadlines.

Incorporate coaching and feedback to continuously improve performance.

Represent the firm professionally with clients and in the community.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.

Minimum of two years of government auditing or accounting experience.

Direct experience with Ohio governmental accounting requirements (required).

Strong understanding of GAAP and governmental financial reporting.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.

Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.

Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred:

Work Environment
