What are the responsibilities and job description for the Speech & Language Pathologist (Temporary Contract for 2026/2027 School Year) position at Perris Elementary?
DEFINITION:
Under the general supervision of the Director of Special Education & Student Services, the Speech/Language Specialist provides individually designed Speech and Language services for individual children who qualify under the guidelines of the California Master Plan for Special Education.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
a. Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEP) and Individualized Family Service Plans (IFSP) for those children and families found eligible for Speech and Language services under current state guidelines.
b. Conduct individual assessments to qualify, review or recommend special education services appropriate to the needs of students referred for evaluation.
c. Provide individual and small group instruction and service in order to ameliorate the speech and/or language disorders of children who qualify for the program utilizing a variety of methodologies, materials and techniques.
d. Provide consultative services on an as needed basis to staff and parents in order to enhance the effectiveness of each child’s total program.
e. Provide direct and indirect support to children who require either partial or full inclusion into the regular education program.
f. Provide services to preschoolers and infants.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
a. Knowledge and experience as a Speech Pathologist serving infant through school age youngsters.
b. Flexibility and creativity in devising intervention strategies in order to ameliorate the speech and language processing deficits of children placed in the program.
c. Ability to communicate in Spanish.
d. Knowledge of innovative technologies.
CREDENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Possession of or ability to obtain a valid Clinical or Rehabilitative Services Credential.
