Description Overview
We are currently seeking a Typesetter for our CSCA Graphics organization in Charlottesville, VA.
This person will be responsible to create templates with text and formatting in compliance with directed rules and regulations. These templates are an essential part of our packaging development success.
Scope of the Role
- Using inputs from marketing, regulatory affairs, the Code of Federal Regulations, and package engineering, create templates by placing and formatting regulated text and images on blank engineering die lines.
- Interpret complex labeling specifications and federal regulations, often in short lead times.
- Testing proposed packaging for text and formatting fit within regulatory constraints.
Experience Required
- Two-year degree in a related field (Graphics, Paper Science, Journalism, Communications) preferred, or equivalent work experience.
- Typically, these skills are obtained with a minimum 2 years’ work experience.
- Proficiency with Mac OS & Adobe Illustrator preferred. Proficiency with other Adobe Creative Suite programs (Photoshop, InDesign, Acrobat) a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, etc.) preferred.
- Text layout and formatting experience in Adobe Illustrator preferred.
- Previous experience proof-reading preferred. Attention to detail, consistency, and accuracy are a must.
- Ability to read engineering die lines preferred as well as familiarity with general die line terms, i.e. eye marks, text limit, bleeds, etc.
- Ability to read a technical drawing a plus (CAD, ARD, etc.)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary. Must be able to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people across departments.
