Position Overview
Perquimans County Middle School (PCMS) is seeking a qualified, enthusiastic, and dedicated individual to serve as the Head Coach for the Boys Track & Field program. The Head Coach will be responsible for the overall leadership, development, and performance of the girls’ team, while promoting a positive team culture that supports athletic success, academic achievement, and sportsmanship. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with school administration, families, and student-athletes and adhere to North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) standards.
Preferred Qualifications
? Previous coaching experience
? Ability to develop and implement structured practices, workouts, and conditioning plans
? Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including regular engagement with student-athletes and families
? Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities
? Collegiate-level athletic participation or coaching experience is highly desirable
? Any combination of education, training, and experience deemed appropriate by the Superintendent
Primary Responsibilities
• Lead the planning, organization, and oversight of the girls track & field program
• Coordinate daily operations including practice scheduling, meet preparation, and equipment management
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and academically supportive team environment
• Communicate proactively with athletes, parents/guardians, and school staff regarding program expectations, athlete development, and updates
• Teach and reinforce fundamental track & field techniques, rules, and strategies
• Promote core values including sportsmanship, teamwork, accountability, and academic success
• Ensure compliance with school district policies and NCHSAA regulations
• Collaborate with the Athletic Director and school administration to support overall program success
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Principal

This is a paid volunteer position. Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
