Position Overview:
PCHS is seeking a qualified and motivated individual to serve as the Head Coach for both the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field programs. This is a combined leadership role responsible for the overall development, management, and performance of both teams. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to excellence on and off the track, support academic success, and operate in alignment with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA) standards.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Previous coaching experience (high school or higher)
- Ability to develop and implement structured practice, workout, and conditioning plans
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, including regular engagement with student-athletes and families
- Collegiate-level playing or coaching experience is highly desirable
- Demonstrated organizational and leadership abilities
- Any combination of education, training, and experience deemed appropriate by the Superintendent
Primary Responsibilities:
- Lead the planning, organization, and oversight of all aspects of the track & field program for both teams
- Coordinate daily operations, including scheduling, practice sessions, meet preparation, and equipment management
- Foster a positive, inclusive, and academically supportive team culture
- Collaborate closely with the Athletic Director, assistant coaches, and school administration to enhance program success
- Communicate proactively with parents/guardians regarding athlete development and program news
- Teach and reinforce fundamental track & field techniques, rules, and strategies
- Promote core values such as sportsmanship, accountability, teamwork, and academic performance
- Ensure compliance with school district policies and NCHSAA regulations
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Athletic Director and/or Principal
Compensation:
This is a paid volunteer position.
Compensation will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
