This is a full-time position responsible for providing support of the Museum's teen programs through the coordination, development, and delivery of STEM initiatives.
Perot Museum’s Teen programs empowers students through academic, industry, and Museum support by offering the in-demand skillsets needed to thrive in STEM colleges and careers. Our programs target diverse youth to provide fundamental skills as well ensuring they have the tools to flourish in a STEM-centric workforce.
Community and family involvement will also be a significant part of this role. It is the responsibility of the Coordinator to cultivate and maintain positive working relationships. The Coordinator will be responsible for all aspects regarding volunteerism at the Perot from recruiting new teen volunteers and promoting innovative opportunities for students to participate in.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- Recruit and grow teen enrollment.
- Organize and regularly host activities and events such as study skills workshops, college and career tours, financial aid presentations, college readiness sessions, etc.
- Provide guidance, role modeling, and career counseling to teen members.
- Collaborate with community colleges, businesses, and tech schools to facilitate the creation of new programs that will increase the preparedness of teens for their futures.
- Develop and maintain relationships with companies who wish to become hiring partners or instructional partners.
- Continuously seek new opportunities that may contribute to college and career readiness programs for teens.
- Establish relationships with parents, community leaders, and organizations that will improve the education and learning of teens.
- Motivate students to focus on a graduation plan.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in an appropriate field of study.
- Three years minimum work experience in a museum, school system, or similar organization with planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people.
- Demonstrated youth development principles, strength-based practices, and strategies, collaborating with schools and districts, developmental characteristics, and outcome measurement.
- Exceptional communication skills with comfort and experience with public speaking/presentations.
- Ability to organize and manage complex initiatives with multiple deliverables.
- Demonstrated ability to work with young people, parents, and community leaders.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Proven ability to organize and supervise members in a safe environment.
- Moderate local travel within the DFW Motorplex
- Must have a valid driver's license and good driving history.

Essential Physical Requirement:
While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be required to sit for extended periods while utilizing resource materials such as computers and project management tools. The employee will frequently communicate on the telephone and via video calls. Additionally, there may be the occasional light lifting of boxes and other materials of 20 pounds or less.
