Job Title:  High School Testing Coordinator                                              Wage/Hour Status: Exempt

Reports to:  Principal                                                                             Pay Grade: Admin Pay 4

Dept. /School: Permian or Odessa High School                                         Days: 217 

 

Primary Purpose: Coordinate administrations of the State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR/EOC) and other tests to include: SAT, PSAT, AP, IB, TSI, ASAB, and any other required exams and/or benchmarks.


Qualifications:

 

Education/Certification:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
  • Valid Texas teaching certificate

 

            Special Knowledge Skills:

 

  • Knowledge of state and local testing procedures
  • Strong knowledge of curriculum and instruction
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Such alternatives to these qualifications as deemed appropriate by the Superintendent

 

 

Experience:

 

  • At least three years of successful teaching experience

 

Major Responsibilities and Duties:

 

Instructional Strategies

 

  • Coordinate and communicate with the assessment department personnel to ensure efficiency and accuracy of testing
  • Plan, organize, and implement all testing initiatives to support student success for multiple tests given throughout the school year.
  • Serve all 9-12 students through the coordination of testing.
  • Evaluate student assessments.
  • Present subject matter according to guidelines established by Texas Education Agency, board policies, and administrative regulations.
  • Analyze all test data and provide strategies to facilitate improvement of student performance.
  • Provide training to all staff relating to assessment of students.
  • Work with other members of staff to determine instructional goals, objectives, and methods according to district requirements.
  • Plan and supervise assignments of teacher aide(s) and volunteer(s).
  • Use technology to strengthen the testing process.
  • Research new students to campus to provide information on testing requirements
  • Use data bases to locate and then enter correct student testing information.
  • Review testing results and update master tracking chart to prepare for next administration.
  • Know the requirements for special populations and arrange any accommodations necessary to serve the students.

  • Help students analyze and improve study methods and habits.
  • Conduct ongoing assessment of student achievement through formal and informal testing.
  • Be a positive role model for students, support mission of school district.

 

          Communication

 

  • Establish and maintain open communication by conducting conferences with staff.
  • Maintain a professional relationship with colleagues, students, parents, and community members.
  • Use effective communication skills to present information accurately and clearly.
  • Establish and communicate testing schedule for the campus.
  • Train all test administrators to maintain testing security and procedures.
  • Communicate to all re-testers for next administration opportunity.

 

          Professional Growth and Development

 

  • Participate in staff development activities to improve job-related skills.
  • Keep informed of and comply with state, district, and school regulations and policies.
  • Compile, maintain, and file all physical and computerized reports, records, and other documents required.
  • Attend and participate in faculty meetings and serve on staff committees as required.
  • Attend required training and prepare/present to staff.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Paraprofessional, teachers, and or staff who help with testing responsibilities

Working Conditions:

 

Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Occasional prolonged or irregular hours.
