Non-exempt position. Implement and maintain the radiological controls program at the direction of the RSO in accordance with all applicable procedures, state and federal regulations.
Duties
Continuous field/facility work required where there is potential for exposure to radiation, noise, dust and hot and cold temperatures. Climbing, walking and lifting will be normal daily requirements
Description
Non-exempt position. Implement and maintain the radiological controls program at the direction of the RSO in accordance with all applicable procedures, state and federal regulations.
Duties
- Provide radiological controls oversight to Facility workers.
- Perform radiological surveys, i.e., radiation, contamination, and airborne surveys, environmental monitoring.
- Implement and maintain the facility Dosimetry Program.
- Implement the facility ALARA, Radiological Health & Safety Policies.
- Operate various laboratory equipment, liquid scintillation counter, and basic radiological counting instruments.
- Maintain inventory and ordering of health physics supplies.
- Maintain records and prepare reports as assigned.
- Perform occupational radiation worker training.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent.
- Advanced training and/or equivalent experience in radiation protection and control.
- A minimum of one (1) year experience as a health physics technician.
- Good verbal and written skills.
- Knowledge of DOT, State and other Federal regulations desirable.
- Advanced training and/or equivalent experience in gamma/alpha spectroscopy desirable.
