Requirements
- Set up, adjust and operate press brakes to perform a variety of forming and bending operations of various gauge materials to close dimensional requirements.
- Position, align and secure forming dies and adjust ram stroke to suit gauge of material, angle or contours; set stop gauges to conform with dimensional specifications, template or samples.
- Limited set up knowledge is acceptable for initial bidding to this position, but must have at 6 months experience with machine operation. Also, must be capable of setting up Press Brake equipment at a basic level within a 6 month period, and continue learning more advanced setups over time. Must meet established efficiency and productivity standards.
- Determine sequence of bends on multiple pass operations for work having a series of bends at various angles and in different planes.
- Improvise setups to form special shapes having single or compound radii, angle flanges, etc., requiring considerable care in ram adjustments to avoid surface irregularities.
- Work from drawings, specifications, templates and samples.
- Use scale, square, protractor, calipers, micrometers, angle and radius sweep gauges to set up and check work.
- Proceed with minimum supervision; responsible for quality of own work.
- Work is subject to process and final inspection and check.
Requirements
- Requires knowledge of basic mechanical principles, metal fabricating methods, basic mathematics as may be acquired by a vocational or high school education.
- Requires a knowledge of Press Brake equipment and procedures as is usually obtained in two years of high or vocational school education program.
- An entry level knowledge blueprint reading skills as evidenced thru completion of a basic level Welders Blue Print reading class at a tech school or equivalent level is required.
