The Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking a Special Education Teacher, Autistic Support at Skippack Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. The successful candidate will demonstrate a committment to delivering individualized instruction that supports the academic, communication, social-emotional, behavioral, and adaptive skill development of students with autism, while fostering an inclusive learning environment that promotes independence and progress toward IEP goals.
Qualifications:
These positions requires Pennsylvania certification in Elementary Special Education K-8 or Special Education PK-12.
Recommended Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based instructional practices for students with autism spectrum disorders, with the ability to design individualized instruction across academic, communication, behavioral, social-emotional, and adaptive skill areas.
Strong understanding of special education laws and procedures, including IDEA requirements, IEP development and implementation, and progress monitoring to support student growth and compliance.
Experience implementing positive behavior supports and intervention strategies that promote engagement, self-regulation, and increasing independence.
Knowledge of augmentative and alternative communication (AAC), visual supports, and assistive technology to support student access, communication, and participation.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with families, teachers, paraprofessionals, related service providers, and administrators to support a coordinated, team-based approach to instruction.
Compensation:
The starting salary will be determined as outlined in the Perkiomen Valley Education Association Agreement.
