The Perkiomen Valley School District is seeking a dependable, detail-oriented, and team-focused individual to serve as a Food Service Cook at Perkiomen Valley High School beginning with the 2026-2027 school year. This position plays an essential role in preparing and serving nutritious, high-quality meals while supporting the daily operation of the school cafeteria and kitchen.
The successful candidate will assist with breakfast and lunch service, prepare menu items according to standardized recipes and production schedules, support catering and district-wide food production activities, maintain food safety and sanitation standards, and help ensure efficient kitchen operations. The Food Service Cook serves as a key support to the Food Service Cafeteria Manager and may assist with coordinating daily workflow in the manager's absence.
Position Details
Location: Perkiomen Valley High School
Schedule: Monday-Friday, 6:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.
Position Type: Full-Time, 10-Month
Starting Rate: $17.14 per hour (2025-2026 rate)

Education, Training, and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent, required
- Minimum of one (1) to two (2) years of experience in food preparation, preferably in quantity food production
- Experience in a school nutrition program, preferred
- Experince operating commercial kitchen equipment preferred
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
The Food Service Cook must possess knowledge of quantity food production, batch cooking methods, food safety and sanitation standards, food preparation techniques, kitchen organization, and time management practices. The position requires knowledge of the Healthy Hunger-Free Kids Act, Smart Snacks regulations, USDA requirements, HACCP procedures, and applicable local health regulations. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to prepare food according to standardized recipes and production schedules, operate commercial kitchen equipment safely and efficiently, maintain accurate records, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment. Strong organizational, communication, teamwork, customer service, and interpersonal skills are essential, including the ability to interact professionally with students, staff, parents/guardians, vendors, and community members. Basic computer proficiency and the ability to follow written and verbal instructions are required.

Compensation
The starting salary will be determined as outlined in the Maintenance, Custodial, and Food Service Collective Bargaining Agreement.
