Pipe Layer
Perkinson Construction LLC is seeking an experienced and dependable Pipe Layer to join our site and utility construction team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience installing underground utility systems, including water mains, sanitary sewer, and storm drainage. This position requires a strong understanding of pipe installation techniques, trench safety, grading, and the ability to work efficiently as part of a crew while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Install underground utility piping, including water mains, sanitary sewer, storm drainage, and associated structures.
- Read and interpret construction plans, specifications, grades, and elevations to ensure accurate pipe installation.
- Set, align, and grade pipe according to project specifications using lasers, levels, and other measuring equipment.
- Install manholes, catch basins, valves, hydrants, fittings, and other underground utility components.
- Assist with trench excavation, bedding preparation, backfilling, and compaction operations.
- Work closely with equipment operators and foremen to ensure safe and efficient installation.
- Properly use and maintain hand tools, power tools, and pipe installation equipment.
- Inspect pipe, fittings, and materials for proper installation and quality.
- Follow OSHA regulations, trench safety requirements, and company safety procedures.
- Assist with other site development and general construction activities as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
- Previous experience in underground utility construction and pipe installation preferred.
- Knowledge of water, sewer, and storm drainage installation methods.
- Ability to read grades, operate pipe lasers, and understand basic construction plans.
- Familiarity with trench safety, excavation procedures, and underground utility construction practices.
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and ability to work effectively with a crew.
- Ability to follow directions and maintain a safe, productive work environment.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
