What are the responsibilities and job description for the Entry-Level Fabrication Technician position at Perkins Precision Developments?
Perkins Precision Developments (PPD) established in 2009, manufactures custom high-performance optical components for both OEM and research applications for government and commercial entities. Our technical staff possesses well over 100 cumulative years in the photonics industry. PPD resides in a 7,000 square foot facility with a class 10,000 clean room. We have a full range of shaping, grinding, polishing and coating equipment enabling us to produce a diverse mix of shapes and sizes of precision optical components and assemblies for a wide variety of applications.
PPD is looking for an Entry-Level Full-Time Optics Fabrication Technician. You will be fully trained to properly handle and fabricate precision optical components. As needed you will receive training to perform various tasks required for the fabrication of precision optical components, such as beveling, grinding, polishing, sawing, and drilling.
Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to:
- Inspect and test products to MIL and/or ISO specifications
- Understand written work instructions and mechanical drawings of optical components
- Operation and maintenance of fabrication equipment
- Perform visual inspection and testing with microscopes, micrometers, calipers, interferometers, and autocollimators
- Proper handling of critical and fragile optical components
- Maintain appropriate records and log books
- Keep work area neat and organized
Qualifications
- Must be detail oriented and work with accuracy
- Reliably report for work as scheduled
- Once trained be capable of working independently with minimal direction
- Communicate well in a team environment
- Interest in making optics a career
Perkins Precision Developments must comply with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) issued by the US Dept of State, Directorate of Defense Controls. Because of ITAR, PPD limits employment to US citizens or lawful permanent residents of the United States.
