The Construction Engineer will be primarily located at a designated construction site and will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager and other project team members in executing activities to include; bidding support, executing the submittal and RFI review process, document control, verification of as-builts, supporting quality control, supporting site safety, executing equipment receiving process, managing closeout documentation, and supporting cost management activities.

The Construction Engineer will be primarily located at a designated construction site and will be responsible for supporting the Project Manager and other project team members in executing activities to include; bidding support, executing the submittal and RFI review process, document control, verification of as-builts, supporting quality control, supporting site safety, executing equipment receiving process, managing closeout documentation, and supporting cost management activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Inspect and monitor day-to-day construction activities to ensure compliance with approved plans, specifications, codes, and safety standards.
- Observe installation of roads, utilities, pipelines, concrete structures, and related infrastructure components.
- Verify dimensions, materials, and workmanship to confirm conformance with design documents.
- Maintain accurate and detailed field inspection reports, daily logs, and photographic documentation.
- Assist with quantity tracking, material submittal reviews, and pay estimate verification.
- Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and utility companies to resolve field issues and maintain construction progress.
- Attend progress meetings, site walkthroughs, and inspections with clients and regulatory agencies.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements.
- Identify non-conforming work and develop corrective action plans.
- Review project schedule for quality inspection and testing needs.
- Attend weekly owner progress meetings when required.
- Attend weekly subcontractor meetings when required.
- Attend pre-activity meetings prior to start of work.
- Visit sites regularly during construction — including bid walks, preconstruction walks, in-progress visits, overseeing installation and commissioning, punch walks, and closeouts — and attend status and coordination meetings.
- Conduct and document quality assurance and safety inspections throughout the construction process, ensuring that the work environment is acceptable, and that tools and equipment are in good working condition.
- Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred. Transferable military experience also accepted.
- 2 years of relevant experience in construction inspection of civil infrastructure projects.
- Familiarity with construction standards and specifications from DOTs, municipalities, and agencies such as AWWA, ASTM, or APWA.
- Strong understanding of civil construction techniques for transportation and water/wastewater facilities.
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and construction schedules.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and field reporting tools (e.g., Fieldwire, Procore, or similar).
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills.
- High degree of technical competence and creativity
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel to project sites.
- OSHA certification
