As a Senior Composites Technician, you will be responsible for performing advanced assembly and fabrication of adhesive-bonded composite structures. Key Responsibilities
- Comply with written work instructions, standard procedures, and processes to perform advanced layup and assembly tasks.
- Plan, lay out, fabricate, and build adhesive-bonded assemblies of non-metallic composite materials with a high level of proficiency.
- Perform precision layup, pre-fit, and assembly of composite bonded structures with strict attention to tolerances.
- Fit and install core components with exceptional accuracy.
- Demonstrate advanced skills in laying out and marking dimensions and reference lines, using patterns or templates.
- Support Environmental Health & Safety and Quality System policies to maintain a safe, efficient workplace.
- Perform a variety of non-routine fabrication, curing, build-up, and assembly procedures under limited supervision.
- Apply proficient knowledge of composite technologies, including hi-temp plastics, prepreg, graphite epoxy, wet graphite, and silicone injection molding.
- Assist in leading the shop area to ensure quality and safety standards are upheld.
- 4 years of relevant experience or related technical training (A&P school, composite/metal bonding).
- Ability to read and interpret OEM drawings with precision.
- Experience with lean and continuous improvement practices preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, standing, and sitting for extended periods.
- Skilled in advanced layup methods, including prepreg, infusion, and resin mixing for infusion and gel coating.
- Proficient in using small hand tools (routers, die grinders, band saws, Dremel tools) for advanced assembly tasks.
- Strong mathematics and precision measuring skills.
- Accuracy in completing paperwork and manufacturing routing sheets.
- Effective communication skills in English (written and oral).
- Ability to take initiative, adapt to changing priorities, and work in a dynamic environment.
- Basic computer data entry skills.
