The MHE Mechanic will be responsible for inspecting, troubleshooting, repairing, and performing preventative maintenance on a variety of material handling equipment, including electric forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, and propane fueled cleaning equipment. The goal is to maximize equipment uptime and ensure a safe, efficient, and reliable work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preventative Maintenance (PM): Perform routine maintenance, including lubricating, cleaning, adjusting, and changing filters/fluids on forklifts and pallet jacks to manufacturer guidelines.
- Diagnostics & Repair: Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults in equipment and perform necessary repairs (e.g., motor replacements, brake repairs, hydraulic cylinder repairs).
- Battery Maintenance: Inspect, maintain, and troubleshoot industrial forklift batteries and charging systems.
- Documentation: Maintain accurate, timely records of all maintenance work, parts used, and service hours in the Maintenance Management System.
- Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety procedures (Lockout/Tagout), OSHA standards, and company policies to ensure equipment is safe for use.
- Fabrication & Shop Work: Use power tools, welding apparatus (MIG/Stick), and diagnostic tools to fabricate or repair components.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- 1 years of experience as an MHE, forklift, or heavy equipment mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems, hydraulic systems, and internal combustion engines (gas/propane).
- Proficiency in using basic diagnostic equipment and tools.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in a fast-paced warehouse environment (including varying temperatures).
