The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of a blending and filling manufacturing facility as well as guidance for the maintenance crew on shift. The primary hours of this position are flexible utilizing 2nd and 3rd shift combination hours.

Overview
The Lead Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance of a blending and filling manufacturing facility as well as guidance for the maintenance crew on shift. The primary hours of this position are flexible utilizing 2nd and 3rd shift combination hours.
Your Role at Prestone
- Perform preventive maintenance on production equipment such as conveyors, presses, pumps, and motors.
- Troubleshoot mechanical, pneumatic, hydraulic systems and conveying equipment such as air compressors and chillers to identify and resolve issues.
- Ability to troubleshoot AC/DC Electrical components (up to 480VAC 3 Phase) including motor starters, PLC logic, switches and sensors found on all assigned equipment using basic test equipment such as multi-meters, amp probes. Laptop computer.
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics and equipment manuals.
- Install and setup of new machinery and production lines.
- Perform mechanical repairs on all production equipment, case machines, trimmers, blow molder, extruder, conveyors, case erectors/packers, palletizers, etc.
- Replace worn or defective machine parts using hand tools, power tools, and precision measuring instruments.
- Utilize CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) for preventative maintenance tasks, work orders and logging reactive work orders.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment performance and reduce downtime.
- Follow all safety protocols and ensure compliance with OSHA and company standards.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to minimize disruptions to manufacturing processes.
- Support Maintenance Mechanic I when required.
- Maintain a clean and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA and company safety standards.
- High school diploma or GED required; technical certification or associate degree in industrial maintenance or a related field preferred.
- Journeyman Electrician certification.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance role.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a manufacturing facility is required.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
- Required working knowledge and experience of mechanical systems, industrial electricity, and PLC’s.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with working knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency with hand and power tools, welding equipment, and diagnostic instruments.
- Experience with manufacturing equipment and tools (e.g., lathes, grinders, welding equipment).
- Familiarity with CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management Systems) is a plus.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Willingness to work overtime, weekends, or on-call as needed.
- Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks such as climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
- Manufacturing plant setting with exposure to noise, heat, and moving machinery.
- Requires use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Physical ability to work in confined spaces and stand for extended periods.
- May involve climbing ladders, working at heights, or in tight spaces.
