Job Overview
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Welder/Fabricator to join our dynamic service and repair team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating, welding, and assembling metal components according to detailed blueprints and some custom repair that requires knowledge of repair as you go. Your expertise will help ensure the production of high-quality metal structures and components, adhering to safety standards and industry best practices. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on diverse projects, utilizing advanced fabrication techniques and tools to bring designs to life with precision and efficiency. We perform a large amount of maintenance and repair on low bed and heavy haul trailers, custom fabrication for heavy equipment and in field welding repair for mines etc.
Duties
- Interpret mechanical blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to determine fabrication and welding requirements.
- Perform various welding processes including MIG (Metal Inert Gas), TIG (Tungsten Inert Gas), FCAW (Flux-Cored Arc Welding), and SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding) in accordance with AWS (American Welding Society) standards. If efficient in one process ok
- Use measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, and shop math skills to ensure accurate dimensions during fabrication.
- Operate power tools, plasma cutters, press brake machines, and other fabrication equipment to cut, shape, and assemble metal materials.
- Follow safety protocols diligently while handling heavy materials, rigging operations.
Qualifications
- Proven construction site experience with metal fabrication or welding projects.
- Proficiency in multiple welding techniques including MIG, TIG, FCAW, SMAW, and gas metal arc welding preferred.
- Ability to read blueprints, schematics, technical drawings accurately.
- Experience operating measuring instruments such as calipers and micrometers; basic math skills for measurements and calculations.
- Mechanical knowledge of fabrication shop processes including plasma cutting, press brake operation, pipe threading, and assembly.
- Familiarity with safety protocols related to welding environments; adherence to OSHA standards is essential.
- Ability to operate hand tools, power tools, forklifts, and machining equipment safely and efficiently.
- Construction or manufacturing experience involving ductwork or structural steel is highly desirable.
