About the role
The Loan Officer / Loan Administrator role is responsible for developing and managing commercial lending relationships while ensuring loans are accurately documented, compliant, and properly administered throughout the loan lifecycle. This position supports business development and portfolio growth by evaluating credit requests, structuring loan solutions, and maintaining strong customer relationships, while also performing key loan documentation, servicing, and monitoring functions for commercial, agricultural, and consumer loans.
This position can be located in Ruidoso, Alamogordo, or Las Cruces.
What you will do
- Develops and maintains loan and deposit relationships with current and prospective commercial and agricultural customers.
- Evaluates customer creditworthiness by reviewing financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and collateral to support sound lending decisions.
- Structures loan requests within bank policy guidelines for presentation and approval by loan committee.
- Reviews and processes loan applications to ensure completeness, accuracy, and adherence to internal policies and regulatory requirements.
- Prepares, reviews, and maintains loan documentation including promissory notes, security agreements, and collateral documents.
- Determines collateral requirements and coordinates valuation, filings, and insurance verification as part of the loan approval and closing process.
- Manages an assigned loan portfolio, monitoring financial reporting, covenant compliance, renewals, and ongoing servicing needs.
- Maintains loan files and monitoring systems (tickler reports) to ensure documentation, insurance, and compliance items remain current.
- Assists with loan disbursements, payoffs, modifications, and renewals, ensuring accurate records throughout the loan cycle.
- Identifies opportunities to recommend additional bank products and services that meet customer needs.
- Communicates effectively with customers, loan officers, credit analysts, and internal departments to support efficient loan origination and servicing.
- Represents the bank within the community and at professional or business-related events as appropriate.
- Maintains working knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and applicable banking laws and regulations.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
What you will need
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business, or a related field preferred; associate degree with relevant experience considered.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial, agricultural, or business lending and/or loan administration preferred.
- Experience with loan documentation, portfolio management, and regulatory compliance strongly preferred.
- Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to balance customer-facing and administrative responsibilities.
