What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Commercial & Implementation Business Analyst position at Performance AI?
Senior Commercial & Implementation Business Analyst
Downtown Chicago | On-site | Full-time | $95,000–$105,000
Job Description
Performance AI and NexaPoint Health are hiring a Senior Commercial & Implementation Business Analyst to support customer discovery, sales, implementation, and post-sale execution across enterprise AI and healthcare technology workflows.
This is a full-time, onsite role in downtown Chicago, five days per week. This is not a remote or hybrid position.
No visa sponsorship is available. No relocation assistance is available.
This role is for someone who is both highly technical and highly customer-facing. You do not need to be a software engineer, but you must be able to understand technical workflows, system integrations, data flows, APIs, EMR/RCM systems, AI automation, implementation dependencies, and customer operations.
You must also have excellent communication skills. This role requires direct interaction with customers, executives, operators, clinicians, sales teams, product teams, and engineering teams.
The right person can join a sales discovery call, understand the customer’s workflow, identify technical and operational risks, document requirements, support commercial scoping, and help drive implementation to a successful launch.
This is a high-ownership startup role. You will be expected to bring structure, judgment, urgency, communication, and execution.
What will you do?
Pre-Sales Discovery
- Join customer and prospect discovery calls with sales and leadership.
- Understand customer workflows, systems, data sources, operational pain points, and technical constraints.
- Ask strong business, technical, and process questions.
- Translate vague customer needs into clear workflow maps, requirements, scope assumptions, and success criteria.
- Identify risks before a deal is sold, including unclear scope, messy data, missing integrations, weak customer ownership, or unrealistic timelines.
Sales Support
- Support sales conversations with credible workflow and implementation expertise.
- Help prepare customer-specific solution briefs, workflow summaries, proposal inputs, and ROI narratives.
- Help define what belongs in the first deployment versus future expansion.
- Partner with sales to avoid overpromising or under-scoping customer commitments.
- Support demos by explaining how the solution maps to the customer’s actual business process.
Post-Sales Implementation
- Lead business requirements gathering after contract signature.
- Document current-state and future-state workflows.
- Translate customer needs into clear product, engineering, implementation, and operational requirements.
- Track customer dependencies, blockers, decisions, risks, owners, and deadlines.
- Coordinate with customers to gather access, files, workflow details, system information, data requirements, and approvals.
- Support launch readiness, user acceptance testing, adoption, and post-launch issue resolution.
- Maintain clean customer documentation and implementation records.
Customer Success Expansion
- Track whether customers are using what was sold.
- Identify adoption issues, workflow friction, and expansion opportunities.
- Gather customer feedback and translate it into product and implementation priorities.
- Prepare executive-ready customer status summaries.
- Help leadership understand which accounts are healthy, blocked, at risk, or ready to expand.
Required Qualifications
- 5 years of experience in business analysis, technical business analysis, SaaS implementation, solutions consulting, customer implementation, healthcare operations, revenue operations, or a similar role.
- Strong technical understanding of systems, data workflows, integrations, APIs, databases, enterprise software, AI/automation workflows, or healthcare technology.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proven experience working directly with customers or clients.
- Experience supporting pre-sales, sales support, implementation, or post-sales customer success.
- Ability to write clear requirements, workflow maps, implementation notes, customer summaries, and executive updates.
- Strong project tracking, ownership, and follow-through.
- Ability to work onsite in downtown Chicago five days per week.
- Legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare technology experience.
- EMR, EHR, RCM, billing, clinical operations, payer/provider, or healthcare workflow experience.
- Experience in regulated industries.
- Experience with enterprise SaaS, AI platforms, automation, integrations, or data-heavy software implementations.
- Familiarity with tools such as HubSpot, ClickUp, Jira, Notion, Slack, Google Workspace, Microsoft 365, CRM systems, or implementation tracking tools.
- Experience working in a startup or high-growth environment.
Who Will Succeed in This Role
You will succeed if you are:
- Technically sharp.
- Clear in writing and speaking.
- Comfortable with customers.
- Strong in ambiguous situations.
- Able to challenge bad assumptions professionally.
- Commercially aware.
- Detail-oriented without being slow.
- Comfortable working across sales, product, engineering, operations, and customers.
- Able to create structure where none exists.

- Remote or hybrid work.
- Visa sponsorship.
- Relocation assistance.
- A pure reporting analyst role.
- A junior coordinator role.
- A non-customer-facing back-office role.
