Performance 360 Consulting is partnering with Prisma Health in the recruitment of multiple full-time Certified Athletic Trainers serving high schools in South Carolina. New grads and experienced practitioners are welcome.


Overview of this Role

Certified Athletic Trainers are vital service providers to high schools in the Midlands / Columbia region of South Carolina. Beyond standard AT qualifications (BOC certified, state licensure by hire date, strong technical skills, etc.), successful Prisma ATs are good teammates, excellent communicators, and immerse themselves fully in the community. 


These are all NON-TEACHING roles and all are partnered with 1-4 additional FT ATs at each school. Further support/coverage is on hand when needed throughout the year. Openings will be filled on a first come first served basis.

  • Lower Richland HS (3A)
  • Mid-Carolina (2A)
  • Westwood HS (4A)

Role / Schedule Specifics

  • All positions are NON-TEACHING, allowing focus on student athlete / team service primarily on weekday afternoons and evenings during the school year
  • With 2-5 FT Prisma ATs at each school, evening and weekend duties can be rotated to allow for a healthier work-life balance/rhythm
  • Summer schedules typically shift to earlier in the day and are more flexible 
  • No clinic / other coverage hours are required during quieter periods of the year except for teammates covering for teammates on vacation, etc.
  • Additional earning opportunities (~ $45 p/h) through PRN coverage: Tournaments, special events, etc. outside of normal duties

Prisma Health is a private nonprofit health company and the largest health care organization in South Carolina. With a population of 140,000, and 850,000 in the metropolitan area, it boasts several family friendly attractions in addition to a diverse cultural and culinary scene. Columbia is a recreation-lovers dream due to its proximity to lakes, Congaree National Park, and state forests. Charleston and several beaches on the Atlantic, along with the Appalachian Mountains, are 2-hours away by car.


Compensation & Benefits

  • $53,000-$70,000 based on years of certified experience with staff salary increases are currently averaging ~3.5% per year
  • $5,000 signing bonus for external applicants plus relocation assistance

Required Qualifications

  • Education - Bachelor's degree in Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training OR Physical Education w/ Athletic Training emphasis. Master's degree preferred.
  • BLS required.
  • SC LLR Licensure as an Athletic Trainer is required by the start of work.
  • BOC (Board of Certification) for Athletic Training required.


Select essential functions include but are not limited to the following

  • All team members are expected to be knowledgeable and compliant with Prisma Health's values: Inspire health. Serve with compassion. Be the difference.
  • Provides athletic training services to athletes at appointed high school and any other assigned school(s) or site as required.
  • Utilizes appropriate, sound and up-to-date clinical techniques to effectively assess and treat athletic injuries.
  • Demonstrates basic knowledge of diagnosis/conditions seen in the profession of Athletic Training. 
  • Selects, performs and interprets the results of ATC examinations of appropriate systems.
  • Performs and interprets standardized assessments as determined by appropriateness of athlete.
  • Identifies actual or potential problems that would impact the Athletic Training regimen as well as the overall inter-disciplinary care.
  • Establishes specific treatment plan and goals based on the result of the initial assessment considering all aspects of athlete's condition: age, education level, cultural background and/or any other services the athlete is receiving
  • Communicates with appropriate members including physicians, rehab, parent/guardian, athletic directors, coaches, strength coaches. Documents athlete status in designated EMR or equivalent.
  • Provides timely payroll information.
  • Provides oversight and mentoring to new team members, Graduate Assistants, students.
  • Completes annual mandatory computer-based training, competency review and required employee health testing.
  • Represent organization as outreach team member
  • Attends coaches/parent meetings as available.
  • Provides athletic training services at sponsored sporting events (Special Events).
  • Seeks related tasks in down time and performs other duties as assigned. Supplemental hospital staffing in times of need.
  • Coordinates pre- and post-participation exams and acquires protective equipment for athletes as needed.
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Comply with any and all policies regarding healthcare delivery as indicated and outlined within the Athletic Injury Management section of assigned school or school district.
  • Assists school with management of infection risks & protocols in athletics. Provides care in conjunction with DHEC and/or district guidelines. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Salary : $53,000 - $70,000
