What are the responsibilities and job description for the Operating Partner or General Manager position at Perfection Finishers Inc?
Perfection Finishers is looking for a GM to step in as an owner-operator and run the business day-to-day. This is a partner role, not a plant manager job. Structured for someone who wants to build equity in a profitable specialty manufacturer — not collect a corporate paycheck.
About PFI Specialty finishing shop providing vacuum metalizing and electrostatic painting. PFI serves manufacturers that demand consistent cosmetic quality, repeatability, and on-time delivery. Established business, established customer base, room to grow.
The role Full operational ownership of the business:
- Operations — production, scheduling, quality, maintenance, and shipping. Install daily huddles, KPI scorecards, and weekly priorities. Drive throughput, on-time delivery, first-pass yield, and scrap reduction.
- People — lead supervisors and production staff. Coach, hold accountable, hire and cross-train as the business scales.
- Quality & customers — own inspection standards, root-cause analysis, and corrective actions. Communicate proactively with customers; resolve issues quickly and professionally.
- Sales growth (required) — drive new business through targeted outreach, tighter quoting and follow-up, and expansion of existing accounts through reliability and responsiveness.
- Financial performance — own the P&L. Understand and improve margin, capacity utilization, and cash conversion.
Compensation Minimal base. Significant equity offered on day one for the right partner. Performance pay scales with growth and profitability. This structure is designed for builders who want long-term upside, not short-term salary security.
Top qualifications
- P&L ownership in a small or mid-size manufacturing environment — has run a plant or business unit and feels the weight of the full P&L, not just a functional slice of it.
- Demonstrated commercial instinct — has personally won new business or expanded key accounts. Comfortable in front of customers, not just on the production floor.
- Skin-in-the-game mindset — willing to trade salary security for meaningful equity. Long-term horizon. Builder, not a caretaker.
Background that fits Hands-on operations leader with a track record on OTD, scrap, labor efficiency, and quality. Paint or coatings experience is strongly preferred — finishing, electrostatic, powder coat, liquid paint, or related process backgrounds will be prioritized. On-site daily. Numbers-literate. Direct communicator.
To apply Send a resume and a short note covering:
- Size of team and operation led
- Measurable wins (quality, delivery, throughput, margin)
- How growth has been driven (pipeline, quoting, key accounts)
- Why an equity-heavy, low-base structure is the right move at this point in your career
