Duties
- Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to identify speech, language, voice, fluency, and swallowing issues
- Develop individualized treatment plans (IEPs) tailored to each patient's unique needs, including early intervention strategies for pediatric clients
- Deliver engaging speech therapy sessions using evidence-based methods to promote communication skills and swallowing safety
- Monitor patient progress regularly, adjusting therapy approaches as needed to maximize outcomes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams such as physicians, occupational therapists, and educators to ensure holistic care
- Educate patients and their families on speech development milestones, therapeutic exercises, and strategies for ongoing improvement
- Maintain detailed documentation of patient evaluations, treatment sessions, submit 9 weeks of progress notes to case managers of each student, and discharge summaries in compliance with healthcare regulations
Skills
- Proven experience working in school settings or pediatric environments is highly desirable
- Strong knowledge of speech therapy techniques tailored for children and early intervention programs
- Excellent patient care skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations
- Solid understanding of physiology related to speech production and swallowing functions
- Ability to perform thorough patient assessments using appropriate tools and medical terminology
- Knowledge of anatomy relevant to speech and language processes for accurate diagnosis and treatment planning
- Familiarity with medical records management and documentation standards in healthcare settings
