Position Summary

Perfect Power is seeking a highly motivated Field Engineer to support the construction and commissioning of one of our new utility-scale solar farm projects in Texas. The Field Engineer will play a key role in ensuring construction activities are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and project schedules.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience supporting utility-scale solar, renewable energy, or heavy civil construction projects and possess strong technical, organizational, and communication skills. This position requires a hands-on professional who thrives in a fast-paced construction environment and enjoys solving field challenges while working closely with project management, engineering teams, subcontractors, and clients. Responsibilities align with common utility-scale solar field engineering practices, including construction oversight, RFI management, quality assurance, schedule coordination, and commissioning support.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide daily field engineering support for utility-scale solar construction activities.
  • Monitor work to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, engineering standards, and contract requirements.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers, Superintendents, subcontractors, and owners to resolve technical issues.
  • Review construction drawings, specifications, and engineering documents for accuracy and constructability.
  • Prepare and manage Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, field change documentation, and punch lists.
  • Perform field inspections and verify quality workmanship throughout project execution.
  • Assist with material tracking, inventory verification, and equipment deliveries.
  • Monitor project schedules and identify potential delays or construction conflicts.
  • Support installation activities involving:
  • Solar PV modules
  • Single-axis tracker systems
  • Inverters
  • DC collection systems
  • Medium-voltage collection systems
  • Underground utilities
  • Assist with commissioning activities, system testing, energization, and project turnover.
  • Document daily construction progress and prepare engineering reports.
  • Promote a culture of safety while ensuring compliance with OSHA regulations and company safety standards.
  • Participate in contractor coordination meetings and provide technical recommendations.
  • Support project closeout activities, including as-built documentation and final quality inspections.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related technical discipline.
  • 2–5 years of construction or field engineering experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to work extended hours and travel as required.
  • Valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience on utility-scale solar or renewable energy projects.
  • Experience with EPC construction environments.
  • Knowledge of:
  • Solar PV systems
  • Tracker systems
  • Inverters
  • Medium-voltage electrical systems
  • NEC and applicable electrical codes
  • Experience managing RFIs, NCRs, change orders, and commissioning documentation.
  • Familiarity with Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, or Procore.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • First Aid/CPR certification.
  • EIT certification or Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in varying Texas weather conditions, including heat, wind, and rain.
  • Ability to walk long distances across active construction sites.
  • Ability to climb ladders and work around heavy equipment.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $135,000.00 per year
