Chief Operating Officer

Brooklyn, NY

Our client has grown from one facility into one of New York City’s leading sports programs — two facilities, thousands of athletes, and a team of coaches and staff who believe NYC deserved better. We’re now hiring our first Chief Operating Officer to run the business day to day, so our founder can focus on athletes, coaching, and what comes next.

About Our Client:

They serve athletes of all ages and abilities across instructional classes, competitive teams, camps, parties, and adult programs at our two Brooklyn locations. Their mission is to develop complete athletes — physically, mentally, and emotionally. We put the athlete first, and we hold ourselves to a simple code: effort over excuses, action over intention, we over me.

About the Role:

You will own daily operations across all buildings: one operating cadence, one customer experience, one set of systems and dashboards, and a leadership team that runs on clarity instead of heroics. You’ll lead our operations, marketing, facilities, and IT, partner closely with our CFO and Chief People Officer, and report directly to the CEO. As we look toward future locations, you’ll be the one who turns how they run into a documented playbook.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own day-to-day business operations across all facilities — staffing, scheduling, program logistics, safety, and customer experience.
  • Lead and develop your leadership team — Operations, Marketing, and IT
  • Run the operating cadence: weekly leadership meetings, priorities, and follow-through.
  • Own our systems stack (Jackrabbit, Paychex, When I Work, Power BI) and the dashboards that keep enrollment, capacity, and labor costs visible.
  • Own facility and business insurance across both locations — coverage, renewals, claims, and compliance.
  • Develop any future facility — buildout, permits, systems, staffing, and launch — using the playbook you'll build.
  • Partner with Finance on budgets, forecasts, and program-level profitability — and turn the numbers into operational decisions.
  • Document operations systems that will enable them to open future locations with confidence.

What We’re Looking For:

Required:

  • 7 years of operations leadership, including P&L or budget ownership.
  • Experience running multi-site or multi-department service operations (fitness, youth sports, education, hospitality, retail, or similar).
  • A track record of building systems and processes that outlast you — documentation, dashboards, and trained teams.
  • Experience leading leaders: developing managers and directors, not just individual contributors.
  • Comfort with data: you manage by metrics and can build or direct reporting in tools like Power BI or Excel.
  • Comfort using AI tools day to day — LLMs like Claude or ChatGPT for drafting, analysis, and process documentation.

Nice to Have:

  • Experience scaling a business from 1–2 locations to several — franchise, studio, gym, or academy models.
  • Familiarity with Jackrabbit or similar class-management platforms.
  • Experience putting AI/LLM tools to work in operations — automated reporting, SOPs, scheduling analysis, or customer communication.
  • A background in or genuine connection to youth sports, gymnastics, or athlete development.

Compensation & Benefits:

  • $110,000–$140,000 annual salary, based on experience.
  • Performance bonus tied to company goals [details to be finalized].
  • Paid time off and benefits package.
  • A senior seat at a growing, athlete-first company — and the chance to build its next chapter.
