Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal guidance on all aspects of medical device development, manufacturing, and distribution to ensure compliance with FDA regulations, international standards, and industry best practices.
- Lead negotiations for licensing agreements, supplier contracts, partnership deals, and other commercial arrangements to secure favorable terms while mitigating risks.
- Oversee intellectual property portfolio management, including patent filings, patent litigation, and trade secret protections to safeguard proprietary innovations.
- Manage litigation processes related to product liability, personal injury claims, employment disputes, or regulatory challenges with a focus on swift resolution and risk mitigation.
- Advise on corporate governance matters such as mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and corporate restructuring initiatives.
- Develop comprehensive policies on environmental law compliance, waste management, and sustainability practices relevant to manufacturing operations.
- Conduct legal research using tools like LexisNexis and Westlaw to stay current with evolving laws affecting the medical device industry worldwide.
- Support internal teams with legal drafting for documentation including research reports, compliance manuals, employment agreements, and licensing contracts.
- Lead efforts in estate planning for executive leadership and manage immigration law issues related to international talent acquisition.
- Ensure adherence to landlord-tenant laws when negotiating real estate leases or property acquisitions for manufacturing facilities.
- Provide guidance on workers' compensation law and tribal law & regulations where applicable to ensure comprehensive legal coverage across all operational facets.
Job Requirements:
- Manufacturing industry background required
- Battery experience not required; medical device and other manufacturing sectors also welcome to apply
- High stability and strong long-term track record preferred
- Bilingual communication in English and Mandarin required
- U.S Bar admission preferred, ideally CA or IL
- Senior legal leadership experience in corporate, compliance, contracts and risk matters
- Willing to work onsite either in Manteno IL or Fremont, CA
- Must be ale to work onsite 5 days per week
