About the Role

Percy Medical is seeking a dependable, compassionate, and highly skilled Registered Nurse (RN) to join our patient-centered Family Medicine practice. This is a multifaceted role for an RN with strong clinical skills, exceptional phlebotomy ability, and a willingness to support both clinical and administrative aspects of a small practice.

The RN will play an important role in in-house laboratory testing, patient care, frequent platelet-rich plasma (PRP) procedures, patient triage, and administration of IV fluids as ordered. You will work closely with the physician and clinical team to provide safe, efficient, personalized care in a welcoming, relationship-based environment.

The ideal candidate is organized, reliable, professional, comfortable working independently, and enjoys building meaningful relationships with patients.

Key Responsibilities

Clinical and Laboratory Support

• Perform accurate and efficient venipuncture and capillary blood collection for in-house testing, outside laboratory specimens, and PRP procedures.
• Reliably perform blood draws for patients with routine and challenging venous access.
• Establish peripheral IV access and administer and monitor IV fluids as ordered, in accordance with practice protocols and applicable law.
• Verify patient identity and accurately label, document, handle, store, and transport specimens and PRP materials according to established protocols.
• Perform, document, and maintain quality-control processes for in-house laboratory and point-of-care testing, as assigned.
• Operate and maintain laboratory and PRP-related equipment, including centrifuges, in accordance with training, practice procedures, and manufacturer instructions.
• Room patients and accurately document vital signs, medication lists, allergies, reason for visit, and relevant history.
• Prepare patients for examinations, procedures, and treatments.
• Assist the physician with in-office procedures within scope of licensure, training, and applicable law.
• Administer medications, immunizations, and injections as ordered and permitted by licensure, training, and applicable law.
• Complete medication reconciliation and update health-maintenance items as directed.

Patient Triage, Care Coordination, and Communication

• Perform initial telephone and in-office patient triage, assess symptom severity and urgency, and promptly escalate concerns to the physician or clinical team according to office protocols.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and assist with appropriate disposition, follow-up, and emergency escalation when indicated.
• Manage clinical inbox tasks, including patient messages, refill requests, test-result communication, referral coordination, and prior authorization support, according to office protocols.
• Schedule appointments and coordinate follow-up care.
• Coordinate referrals to specialists, imaging centers, and laboratory services, including related communication and follow-up.
• Answer phones and assist patients professionally and respectfully, escalating urgent concerns appropriately to the physician or clinical team.
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in the electronic health record.

Practice Operations

• Prepare, clean, and stock examination and procedure rooms.
• Maintain clinical supplies and equipment; communicate supply needs promptly.
• Follow infection-control standards, sterile technique, sharps safety, biohazard disposal, bloodborne-pathogen precautions, OSHA requirements, and HIPAA requirements.
• Assist with front-desk responsibilities, including patient check-in/check-out, scheduling, phone calls, and general office support as needed.
• Support efficient clinic flow and communicate promptly with the physician and team regarding patient needs or changes in condition.
• Participate in staff meetings, training, and other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

• Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the applicable state.
• Strong phlebotomy skills and demonstrated venipuncture experience.
• Ability to reliably perform blood draws for patients with routine and challenging venous access.
• Demonstrated ability to establish peripheral IV access and administer IV fluids safely as ordered.
• Ability to perform telephone and in-office triage, recognize potentially urgent concerns, and appropriately involve the physician or clinical team.
• Current BLS/CPR certification or ability to obtain promptly upon hire.
• Experience with electronic health records and basic computer applications.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and time-management skills.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a small clinical team.
• Professionalism, discretion, reliability, and a patient-centered approach.
• Comfort performing both clinical and administrative responsibilities.
• Ability to take initiative, prioritize tasks, and adapt to the needs of a small medical practice.
• Ability to perform essential job functions, including standing or walking for extended periods and safely assisting with patient care tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in outpatient primary care, Family Medicine, urgent care, or a similar clinical setting.
• Experience with PRP preparation, centrifuge operation, and procedural setup.
• Experience with in-house laboratory testing, specimen handling, and point-of-care testing.
• Experience with outpatient IV fluid administration and monitoring.
• Experience with immunizations, prior authorizations, referrals, and medication-refill workflows.
• Familiarity with preventive-care and chronic-disease management workflows.
• Experience working in a Direct Primary Care or other relationship-based medical practice.

Work Environment

This position is based in an outpatient Family Medicine setting with in-house laboratory services, frequent PRP procedures, patient triage responsibilities, and IV fluid administration. The role involves regular patient interaction, phlebotomy, use of standard clinical and laboratory equipment, and strict adherence to infection-prevention and workplace-safety procedures.

As a smaller practice, Percy Medical values flexibility, initiative, and teamwork. The RN should be comfortable moving between clinical responsibilities, patient communication, administrative tasks, referral coordination, and front-office support throughout the day.
