We are seeking a driven and detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support the execution of commercial construction projects. This role is ideal for someone with hands-on construction experience who is ready to take on greater responsibility in project coordination, financial tracking, and client communication while developing into a full Project Manager role.
This position works closely with Project Managers and field leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
Project Support & Execution
- Oversee multiple active commercial construction projects
- Manage and track RFIs, submittals, change orders, daily reports, and other project documentation
- Support project scheduling, production tracking, and labor coordination across field teams
- Serve as a point of contact between field crews, general contractors, clients, and vendors
- Support project closeout including punch lists, warranties, and turnover documentation
Estimating & Cost Support
- Perform quantity take-offs from blueprints and construction drawings
- Assist with estimating, including vendor pricing and scope clarification
- Track material procurement, deliveries, and project supply needs
- Support job cost tracking by reviewing labor hours and material usage against budgets
Field Support & Quality Control
- Conduct job site visits to verify work aligns with project specifications and quality standards
- Support enforcement of OSHA safety requirements and PPE compliance in the field
Qualifications & Skills
- 2–5 years of experience in commercial construction (APM, project coordination, field supervision, estimating, or related roles)
- Strong understanding of construction project workflows (RFIs, submittals, schedules, job costing)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- Experience with construction management software (Procore, Bluebeam, PlanSwift, or similar) strongly preferred
- Strong communication skills with ability to work across field and office teams
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required
- Experience in commercial coatings/painting or specialty subcontracting is a strong plus
