A licensed adult-use cannabis dispensary located in Rogers Park is seeking a professional, alert, and customer-focused Armed Security Officer/Receptionist. This position is responsible for maintaining a safe environment while providing a welcoming and professional first point of contact for customers.
Responsibilities
- Maintain an alert and professional armed-security presence at the dispensary entrance.
- Greet customers respectfully and provide clear entry instructions.
- Check and scan a valid government-issued ID for every customer before permitting entry.
- Ensure customers remove items that prevent proper identification, consistent with company policy, applicable law, and reasonable accommodations.
- Prevent unauthorized individuals from entering restricted areas.
- Ask customers to wait and immediately contact management when an ID cannot be verified or a security concern arises.
- Enforce the dispensary’s rules regarding masks, sunglasses, disruptive behavior, and cellphone use beyond the reception area.
- Monitor entrances, exits, cameras, alarms, and customer activity.
- Maintain accurate visitor and incident documentation.
- De-escalate difficult situations calmly and professionally.
- Contact management, law enforcement, or emergency personnel when necessary.
- Maintain confidentiality regarding customers, employees, security procedures, and business operations.
- Assist with basic reception and front-desk responsibilities as assigned.
Required Qualifications
Applicants must already possess:
- Valid Illinois Permanent Employee Registration Card (PERC).
- Valid Illinois Firearm Owner’s Identification Card (FOID).
- Valid Illinois Firearm Control Card (FCC).
- Completed Illinois-approved 20-hour basic security training.
- Completed Illinois-approved 48-hour firearm training.
- At least 21 years of age.
- At least one year of professional armed-security experience.
- Strong customer-service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain standing and alert for extended periods.
- Ability to pass all required background checks and fingerprinting.
- Ability to qualify for an Illinois Dispensing Organization Agent Identification Card.
- Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as scheduled.
Cannabis dispensary or high-volume retail security experience is preferred. CPR, First Aid, and AED certification are also preferred.
This is not an entry-level security position. Applicants possessing only a FOID card or Concealed Carry License, without an active PERC and Firearm Control Card, will not be considered. All licenses and certifications will be verified.
