The Bar back plays a vital support role within the bar operations, ensuring bartenders are equipped to deliver exceptional service. This position is responsible for maintaining a clean, organized, and well-stocked bar environment, enabling efficient and uninterrupted service to guests. The Bar back acts as a key operational partner to the bartender, contributing to the overall success of the food and beverage experience.

- Inventory Management: Ensure the bar is consistently stocked with essential supplies including liquor, beer, mixers, garnishes, ice, and glassware. Maintain organized storage areas and replenish items as needed throughout service.
- Sanitation and Cleanliness: Wash and polish glassware and bar tools, clean spills promptly, sanitize surfaces, and maintain overall cleanliness of the bar area, including mopping floors and wiping counters.
- Opening and Closing Procedures: Assist with bar setup prior to service and breakdown at the end of shifts. Duties may include organizing shelves, disposing of trash, and preparing stations for the next service period.
- Logistical Support: Retrieve supplies from storage areas, including walk-ins and stockrooms. Transport kegs, cases, and other inventory items to ensure bartenders have uninterrupted access to necessary materials.
- Bartender Assistance: Support bartenders by delivering supplies, and performing other tasks that facilitate smooth and efficient service.
Qualifications:
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- Prior experience in food and beverage or a related field preferred.
- Valid Food Handler Certification as required by state and local regulations.
- Completion of Alcohol Awareness and Management Training; certification must be current.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical capability to perform medium-duty work (lifting up to 50 lbs occasionally and 20 lbs frequently).
- Ability to stand for the duration of the shift.
- Comfortable working in both indoor and occasional outdoor environments
- Strong listening and communication skills; able to understand and respond to guest and team member concerns.
- Proven ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and meet deadlines.
- Professional demeanor with a commitment to courteous, attentive, and service-oriented interactions.
Additional Information:
- Compensation: $25.00 per hour. Please note: These hours are not eligible for inclusion in the service fee if concurrently employed as a Catering Server with PERA.
- Reporting Structure: This position reports directly to the Event Catering Captain and the Food & Beverage Lead, with oversight from the Catering and Events Manager.
- Schedule: Shifts will vary based on operational needs.
About PERA:
We are an 83 acre Recreational Facility for SRP employees and their guests. PERA has been in business for more than 65 years. In 2019 we built a brand new facility that includes meetings rooms, an employee store, fitness center, a bar, and full service kitchen for catering events.
