What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recruiter position at Per Sé Group?
About Per Sé Group
At Per Sé Group, our purpose is simple: to help people and companies grow. That belief drives our ambition to become one of the top 50 staffing firms in the country. We specialize in Engineering, Technical, and Construction workforce solutions with deep experience in energy and a growing footprint in other technical markets. We are a performance-driven company where motivated people grow their careers in recruiting and sales — and AI is actively integrated into how we work, keeping us at the forefront of how technology shapes our industry.
The Opportunity
We are looking for an experienced Recruiter to join our team and drive results in the technical staffing space. This is not an HR role or a generalist seat — it is a performance-driven position that rewards people who are competitive, motivated by results, and serious about building a career with real earning potential.
In this role, you will own your pipeline from top to bottom: identifying and engaging candidates, conducting in-depth interviews, driving submissions, and closing placements across the Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, and Engineering sectors. The more you produce, the more you earn — and the faster you grow.
Growth is based on output, not tenure, and our feedback-rich environment is built to help strong recruiters get better fast. This position includes uncapped commission — your earnings scale directly with your performance. If you have experience recruiting for specialized technical roles and you’re looking for a place where your effort translates directly into results, this is the seat for you.
This role is based out of our Wheaton, IL office, and remote flexibility is something you earn as your performance and tenure develop. We’re intentional about our in-office culture — the collaboration, coaching, and energy that come from having the team together are a real part of how our people develop and perform at a high level. New team members are expected to be in the office full time while they’re learning the system and laying the groundwork for their success.
Who Succeeds in This Role
The Recruiters who thrive at Per Sé tend to share a few things in common:
- They understand the success formula — that the right activity at the top of the funnel, done consistently, with intention, and within a proven system, is what drives interviews, placements, and earnings downstream
- They are competitive by nature — not just against others, but against their own previous numbers
- They are energized by conversations with new people, not worn down by them — the phone is a tool, not a burden
- They are motivated by what this career can pay — they want to win and they want to be compensated for it
- They have genuine curiosity about the industries they recruit in — they take time to understand what makes a strong candidate, not just what’s on the job description
- They have recruited for specialized, technical roles — the industry doesn’t have to be energy, but the depth has to be there
- They communicate with clarity and confidence: on the phone, over email, and in difficult conversations
- They embrace AI and technology as a competitive advantage — always looking for ways to do more, faster
- They are willing to do the work of building something new — they understand that success at a new company means going back to the fundamentals, learning the system, and putting in the reps before expecting the results
This Might Not Be the Role for You If…
- Your recruiting background is in HR, talent acquisition, or people operations — this role is performance-focused, not HR-focused
- Your experience is in high-volume, non-specialized staffing rather than technical or specialized roles — the ability to assess real technical depth in a candidate is a core part of what we do
- You’re past the grind of getting something built and you’re not prepared to go back to the beginning, learn a new system, and rebuild your success the right way
- You’re looking for a role where performance expectations are flexible — this environment has clear standards, consistent accountability, and metrics that matter, and that’s by design
- Consistent phone outreach and direct candidate engagement aren’t how you want to spend your day
Responsibilities
The primary output of this role is placements — qualified candidates matched to open roles and successfully hired. Everything below supports that goal:
- Own your recruiting desk across Power Generation, Oil & Gas, Renewable Energy, and Engineering sectors
- Build and maintain a healthy candidate pipeline across priority skill sets through proactive sourcing, referrals, and relationship management
- Conduct in-depth candidate interviews to assess skills, experience, goals, compensation, availability, and fit
- Drive candidate submissions and manage progression through the hiring process: interviews, offers, and start confirmations
- Negotiate compensation and employment terms to close placements
- Partner with Associate Recruiters to ensure pipeline quality and continuity; provide clear, actionable feedback to improve sourcing output
- Maintain accurate and complete records in Bullhorn across all candidate and submission activity
- Track and own your desk metrics: submissions, interviews, placements, and gross margin
- Represent Per Sé professionally to every candidate throughout the recruiting process
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- 2–10 years of recruiting experience in a technical or specialized staffing environment — experience in energy, power, oil & gas, or construction is a strong plus
- Demonstrated track record of hitting placement targets or performance benchmarks in a previous role
- Results-oriented mindset: you understand that activity at the top of the funnel is what drives placements and earnings
- Excellent communication skills — confident on the phone, clear in writing, effective across a wide range of candidate personalities
- High sense of urgency and willingness to go above and beyond
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Comfort using ATS platforms and sourcing tools; experience with Bullhorn a plus
