Position Overview
In this role, you will contribute to system design, perform engineering calculations, conduct equipment selection, and assist with developing technical documents and layouts. You will work with designers, project teams, and field personnel to ensure accurate, code-compliant designs and effective project execution. This company mainly operates in the commercial and light industrial verticals.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in developing engineering scopes with project leads.
- Perform load calculations and interpret results using industry-standard software.
- Select mechanical equipment based on project needs and calculated criteria.
- Produce HVAC layouts and documentation, including ductwork and piping design.
- Coordinate mechanical requirements with other design disciplines.
- Create plumbing system documents, including sizing and routing.
- Ensure designs meet applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
- Support evaluations of system alternatives and conduct basic cost/energy comparisons.
- Participate in site visits and prepare field observations.
- Maintain communication with project teams, clients, and internal stakeholders.
- Utilize Revit® or similar software for design support.
- Provide technical input to design staff as needed.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
- Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration or intent to pursue licensure.
- 5 years of experience in commercial HVAC design.
- 5 years of experience with mechanical and plumbing system design.
Preferred Qualifications
- General understanding of mechanical system and installation costs.
- Ability to simplify and explain technical concepts clearly.
