Per Mar Security Services has been a family-owned and operated, full-service security company since its inception in 1953. We provide security officers, electronic security, fire alarm, and background and investigative services, serving customers in 9 states throughout the Midwest region.
The HR Generalist will:
- Support assigned branches, primarily focusing on employee relations, compliance, policy adherence, and daily branch support.
- Work closely with Human Resources Leadership in developing, implementing, and evaluating ongoing HR policies, programs, functions, and activities.
Additional Functions and Responsibilities:
- Coordinate all unemployment issues with branch personnel, effectively respond to claims, and serve as the client contact with the unemployment vendor.
- Assist with the completion of EEO-1 and VETS 100 reports and other related reports.
- Working along with the Benefits team to provide guidance to assigned branches with ADA or FMLA employment accommodations.
- Working along with Human Resources Leadership, investigate employee complaints as received, coordinating with branch management and other employees as required.
- Working along with Human Resources Leadership, respond to EEOC, Civil Rights, or other employment claims.
- Travel to Per Mar markets as necessary in order to provide HR support for branch personnel.
- Assist in processing and/or onboarding new employees at Per Mar Center as requested.
Education and/or Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED is required.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources or Business strongly preferred.
- Minimum 3 years Human Resources experience (preferably exempt level) with emphasis in HR Generalist and Employee Relations duties preferred.
- Previous experience in a field with an employee population that requires licensing and/or certification is preferred.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Solid working knowledge of Employment Law required.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality of employee information is required.
- Must have excellent attention to detail on a consistent basis.
- Above-average proven organizational skills required.
- Must have the ability to adjust to high-volume work periods and deadlines.
- Ability to interact in person or by phone with all levels of employees and candidates in a professional manner.
- Ability to professionally distance work relationships from personal relationships.
- Ability to travel for day trips and overnights to Per Mar Branches and markets (20%) as necessary.
Licenses/Certifications:
- PHR/SHRM-CP and/or SPHR/SHRM-SCP Certification preferred.
- Must have a valid driver’s license, submit to a Company Motor Vehicle Report; the report results must meet Company standards.
