Delivery Driver Trainee Small Format
POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for learning how to deliver products to all types of accounts, cultivating customer relationships, and working hand-in-hand with the Sales Team to provide best-in-class service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Drives company-owned vehicle to deliver products to customer accounts.
- Completes required delivery procedures at each customer location; generates invoices for each product delivery and is responsible for daily settlement of cash and charges for route.
- Fills, merchandises, and rotates products in coolers, on displays and shelves according to published merchandising standards.
- Organizes and maintains backstock by stacking and arranging products by package and flavor, returns empty pods/crates, damaged and out of date product to the warehouse.
- Builds customer relationships at the store level; delivers best-in-class customer service through communication, building rapport, and showing attentiveness to customer needs.
- Communicates with customers to identify and understand their product or service needs.
- Ensures customer satisfaction through ongoing communication and relationship management; resolves any issues that may arise.
- Communicates and coordinates with presales representatives and KAMs to ensure excellent service for each customer.
- Conducts daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of delivery vehicle; communicates any equipment issues that need attention through the Penske kiosk.
- Adheres to DOT and Pepsi of Greenville Driver Policies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
- 18 years or older.
- High school diploma, GED or equivalent.
- Insurable driving record.
- A valid SC Class A CDL Permit must be acquired within 30 calendar days of employment.
- A valid SC Class A CDL License must be acquired within 90 calendar days of employment.
- Must be able to read, write, and perform basic math.
- Must possess thorough understanding of sales, merchandising and warehouse processes and procedures.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORK ENVIRONMENT
- Must be physically and mentally able to successfully perform the essential elements of the job with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Must be able to hear, talk, understand, and distinguish speech and other sounds.
- Constantly required to stand, walk, and sit.
- Must be able to climb into and out of tractor throughout the shift (8-10 hours per day).
- Must frequently push/pull up to 500 pounds (up to 900 pounds occasionally) using a manual sled or pallet jack.
- Must frequently lift and/or move up to 30 pounds (up to 50 pounds occasionally), climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
- Must be able to safely operate the lift gate, pallet jack/delivery sled, and hand trucks.
- Must be able to use hands and arms in handling, installing, positioning, and moving products and equipment.
- Vision requirements to do this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- While performing the duties of the job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical equipment, outside weather conditions, and high, precarious places.
- The noise level in the work area is usually low.
