Job Overview
We are seeking an experienced Warehouse Manager to oversee our warehouse operations and ensure efficient management of inventory, logistics, and distribution processes. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and a deep understanding of supply chain management, warehouse operations, and continuous improvement methodologies. This role is crucial in maintaining high standards of productivity and safety while optimizing operational costs.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily warehouse operations, including shipping, receiving, inventory control, and order fulfillment.
- Implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and reduce costs within the warehouse.
- Oversee transportation management systems and coordinate logistics for inbound and outbound shipments.
- Develop and maintain budgets related to warehouse operations, ensuring alignment with company goals.
- Utilize ERP systems for effective inventory management and supply chain analytics.
- Lead a team of warehouse supervisors and staff, providing training and support to foster a productive work environment.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to assess operational performance and implement corrective actions as needed.
- Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure optimal inventory levels are maintained through effective demand planning.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and company policies while promoting a culture of continuous improvement.
- Review shipping and receiving orders and requests for stock transfers.
- Supervise and coordinate loading of inventory.
- Oversee the receipt, checking and verification of inventory.
- Ensure orders are pulled, checked, and packed correctly for shipping.
- Confirm the accuracy and quality of inventory being loaded for shipping.
- Monitor damage product orders and status of returned products.
- Develop and maintain procedures for inventory management.
- Monitor and control inventory including counts, reconciling with inventory systems and bar coding.
- Ensure cycle counts are completed on time and accurately.
- Rotate inventory properly using the FIFO method or WMS.
- Safeguard warehouse inventory by establishing and monitoring safety and security procedures and practices.
- Manage stock destruction and aged stock removal.
- Schedule and assign duties to warehouse workers.
- Liaise with other departments including production, processing, and logistics to coordinate warehouse activities.
- Determine optimal warehouse layout and efficient space utilization.
- Ensure all housekeeping duties are completed to maintain safe and orderly work areas.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in warehouse management or related fields such as logistics or supply chain management.
- Strong knowledge of profit & loss management, budgeting, and financial oversight within a warehouse setting.
- Familiarity with lean principles, process improvement methodologies, and 3PL (third-party logistics) operations.
- Experience with transportation planning, fleet management, and dispatching processes.
- Proficient in using warehouse management systems (WMS) and AS400 software for inventory control.
- Excellent supervisory skills with the ability to lead teams effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong analytical skills with experience in supply chain analytics to drive decision-making processes.
- Knowledge of freight handling, shipping & receiving protocols, materials management, and purchasing practices.
