Overview

We are looking for a reliable and motivated Part Time Dishwasher to join our dynamic culinary team at the Farmer & the Fork Cafe at the New England Botanic Garden. This role is essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and efficient kitchen environment, ensuring that all dishes, utensils, and kitchen equipment are sanitized and ready for use. The ideal candidate will be proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to support our team in delivering exceptional event experiences.

Duties

• Operate commercial dishwashing equipment to thoroughly clean dishes, cookware, utensils, and kitchen tools.
• Follow food safety sanitizing procedures to ensure all items meet health standards.
• Assist with manual handling tasks such as loading and unloading dish racks and moving heavy pots or supplies safely.
• Support food preparation by bussing tables and clearing used dishware during events.
• Maintain cleanliness of the dishwashing area, including sinks, counters, and storage spaces.
• Help with basic kitchen cleaning duties to uphold sanitation standards across the workspace.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff to ensure timely availability of clean dishes and utensils for food service.

Requirements

• Previous experience in dishwashing or kitchen sanitation is preferred but not mandatory; willingness to learn is key.
• Knowledge of food safety management and sanitation practices in a restaurant or catering setting.
• Ability to operate commercial dishwashing machines and other kitchen equipment safely.
• Physical ability to perform heavy lifting and manual handling tasks comfortably.
• Familiarity with kitchen health and safety standards, including proper handling of cleaning chemicals.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure all items are properly cleaned and sanitized.
• Excellent teamwork skills with a positive attitude towards supporting busy event environments.
