Role Overview
The Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is a hands-on design leader responsible for executing high-quality mechanical and utility designs for food & beverage facilities. This role blends technical production with mentorship, making it ideal for an experienced engineer who still enjoys designing while helping guide others.
This position offers a clear growth path toward Principal-level leadership.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform hands-on mechanical, plumbing, and HVAC design for food & beverage facilities
- Develop engineering calculations, layouts, AutoCAD 2D drawings, and Revit 3D models for:
- Boilers, steam & condensate systems
- Thermal fluid systems
- Compressed air and vacuum systems
- High/low-pressure water and chilled water systems
- Utility and process piping systems
- Coordinate with project managers, other disciplines, and vendors
- Mentor Junior Mechanical Engineers and support design consistency
- Participate in field evaluations to gather data and validate designs
- Support schedules, budgets, and technical quality on assigned projects
- Incorporate feedback and continuously improve design execution
Qualifications
- B.S. in Mechanical Engineering
- PE license preferred; PE-track or PE-eligible candidates welcome
- 8–15 years of mechanical engineering experience within food & beverage, dairy, pharmaceutical, or industrial processing facilities
- Strong working knowledge of: USDA, FDA, OSHA, ASHRAE, ASME, and applicable standards
- Solid AutoCAD and Revit experience (production-level proficiency expected)
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
- Clear communicator who collaborates well across teams
Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Pay: $130, $150,000.00 per year
